Dr. Richard Brennan LRCP&SI MICGP FRCGP
Richard qualified at RCSI, Dublin in 1978. He completed General Practice Training in Sturry, Kent in the United Kingdom . On return to Ireland, Richard worked in Dublin prior to his appointment as GP principal for Ballyhale and Stoneyford in 1988.
In addition to providing general practitioner services , Richard has been heavily involved in Medical education. Richard was a founding member of the HSE South East GP Training programme and has served as Chairman and President of the Irish College of General Practitioners .
Together with all the other members of the practice team, Richard endeavours to develop and provide quality general practice services, with care and respect for our patients and community.
Dr. Marina Hennessy
MB BCh BAO MRCGP MICGP FFSEM
Marina is a UCD graduate with Diplomas in Child Health and Obstetrics. She completed her GP training in Canterbury. Her special interests include Women’s health and sports medicine.
She is a Fellow of the Faculty of Sports Medicine RCSI and a member of the Medical Equestrian Association. Marina is also a proud mother and grandmother.
Dr. David Brennan
MB BCh BAO (Hons) MRCPI MICGP DipMSK
David graduated from UCD with First Class Honours in 2012. He was awarded several undergraduate academic awards including UCD academic scholarships. He achieved first in his graduating class for Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynaecology and was awarded the MacKennis Gold Medal in Clinical Medicine.
After completing his intern year in St. Vincents University Hospital, he spent time working in New Zealand and Malawi before returning to Ireland to undertake GP training. During his training, he attained membership of the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland and the Irish College of General Practitioners. He was also awarded a Diploma in Musculoskeletal Medicine. He graduated from the HSE/Trinity College GP Training programme in 2019.
David’s special interests include Musculoskeletal Medicine and Skin Cancer Medicine. He has undertaken extensive training in Dermoscopy – a technique used for early diagnosis of skin cancer, pigmented lesion assessment and mole mapping.
David is married to Fiona. They live in Kilkenny with their 3 sons. Outside of medicine, he has a keen interest in music and sport.
Dr. Stephen Brennan
MB BCh BAO, LRCPI, LRCSI, MICGP, MISQua
Stephen graduated from Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2015. Following this he completed his internship in Beaumont Hospital and Cappagh National Orthopaedic Hospital.
In 2016, Stephen started General Practice Training on the South East Specialist General Practice Training scheme. During his training, he worked across the South East and also worked in the Billy O’Riordan Memorial Clinic in Cape Maclear, Malawi. He was a Scholar in Residence for Quality Improvement for Royal College of Physicians in Ireland and International Society for Quality in Healthcare, in 2020. He currently holds a Membership for ISQua.
On completion of training 2020, Stephen worked as a GP in Clonmel, Co Tipperary until August 2022 when he joined the team in Ballyhale.
Stephen is interested in all aspects of General practice and person centred care. He has a special interest in Sports Medicine, Chronic and complex disease management and Travel Medicine.
Outside of General practice, Stephen has an interest in General Practice Training and Medical Education. He is Assistant Scheme Director for the South East Specialist General Practice Training scheme.
Stephen also has an interest in Global Health, particularly in building capacity and sustainability in Health Systems worldwide. He is the current Chairperson of Irish College of General Practitioners Global health committee and has links to the Billy O’Riordan Clinic in Cape Maclear, where he supervises rotations for General Practice Registrars.
Outside of medicine Stephen has an interest in rugby and equestrian sport. He lives in Kilkenny with his wife Doireann.
Dr Eadaoin Shortall MB BCh BAO MICGP
Eadaoin studied Medicine in UCD, graduating in 2011 and went on to do her intern year at the Mater Hospital in Dublin.
She then completed her specialist GP training with the Mid Leinster training scheme. She holds a diploma in Obstetrics and Gynaecology awarded by the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (DRCOG) and is interested in all aspects of general practice, especially Women’s health and Paediatrics.
After completing her GP training in 2016 she spent time working in Dublin. In 2019 she moved to Vancouver and took a two year career break. Eadaoin recently returned to Ireland and now lives in Waterford with her husband and 3 children.
Anne Helly RPN RGN
Ann qualified in Psychiatric and General Nursing ,specialising in Theatre nursing at the Meath Hospital,Dublin.
Anne travelled to Iraq, Scotland and Birmingham gaining theatre nurse experience in these countries.
On return to Ireland in 1990, Anne worked in St.Lukes Hospital Kilkenny. Anne completed a Practice Nurse course in the RCSI in the late 1990’s.
Since 2000 Anne has been working in General Practice, joining Ballyhale Practice in 2006. Her special interests include cervical Screening, womens health, childhood and adult immunisations, wound care, diabetic care and ear care.
Caroline Dalton RGN
Caroline had more than ten years experience in Care of the Elderly before qualifying as a Registered General Nurse in 2003. She completed her training at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, part of The Bucks NHS Trust in England. She continued working as a Staff Nurse on the CCU/Medical Unit at Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe General Hospitals for approximately ten years, completing her Bsc in Coronary Care during that time.
She spent her last two years in England working as Deputy Sister on the Cardiac Day Unit and Cath Lab, providing care for elective and active coronary care patients and gaining valuable managerial experience.
In 2014 she returned home to Ireland where she has since worked as a General Practice Nurse. Since then she has continued to enhance her role with certificates and training in child immunisation, wound care, ear irrigation and cervical smear taking.
Linda Power
Linda is our Practice Manager.
She has worked in Ballyhale Health Centre now for over 20 years.
She became Practice Manager in 2009 after completing the Practice Management Programme with the Irish College of General Practitioners.
Sinead Cahill
Sinead joined the practice in 2016 and has become an integral part of our team.
Your first point of contact with the practice, Sinead prides herself on her warmth and professionalism and is delighted to facilitate your requests and needs in any way she can.
Pauline Lewis
Pauline joined our team at Ballyhale health centre in 2021.
She has over twenty five years experience in customer focused roles and a qualification in administration. Pauline will be happy to help with your queries in a friendly and efficient manner.
